There are many different ways to find peace – while some of us meditate, there are those who choose to pilot a plane and take pictures out the open window at the same time. Meet Klaus Leidorf, a 50-year-old aerial archaeologist from Germany, who takes stunning overhead photos while flying his Cesna 172.

When Klaus started doing this back in 1989, his Contax camera wouldn’t allow him to capture very detailed shots – now, however, with his DSLR cameras (EOS 1DS Mark III and EOS 5D Mark II), his photographs are incredibly precise.

What excites Klaus the most about being up in the sky is the chance to see the Earth from a different perspective. “When I’m flying and see things from above, I don’t care anymore about the small things. It gives me peace”,” - he explains.
