Polish Reinvent The Road Which Now Glows And Recharges From The Sun

Published 8 years ago

At the first glance, roads might seem as a one-time investment, when they actually require quite a bit of infrastructure around them + constant maintenance to be usable, especially when it comes to a night time. To make them more efficient, engineers from TPA Instytut Badań Technicznych Sp. z o.o, Poland, have created one of the coolest road designs we’ve ever seen.

This bike path is near Lidzbark Warminski in the north of Poland, and you won’t have any difficulties finding what’s so special about it if you go there at night, when the road self-illuminates in blue! The coolest bit is that it’s completely self-sustained. It’s made from a synthetic material that can give out light for up to ten hours at a time once charged by the sun throughout the day.

Eco-friendly design offers a promising alternative for the clunky way of how we do things now, with all the lamp posts and the hassles that come with.
