No, it’s not a new species of pigeons. As part of the project “Some pigeons are more equal than others” during the 2012 Venice Biennale, Berlin-based artists Julius von Bismarck and Julian Charriere dyed the birds in an attempt to change people’s perception of them being considered the “rats of the sky”.

The creative duo spray-painted the pigeons with a specially created booth hoping that they would become more accepted by the tourists traveling the venetian piazzas. Of course, it won’t stop pigeons from pooping, but I have to admit – looks do matter and I instantly feel more friendly towards them.
