British artist Ian Berry has chosen and unheard art medium – jeans – to create his unbelievable comic-like “paintings”. After being laid of from the art director position, this 28-year-old by the nickname of Denimu is now dedicating all his time to create denim of London. It’s amazing how by cutting, bleaching, stitching and gluing old jeans he manages to get the depth, perspective, and all the different shades.
Ian first got this idea when he came home for a visit in 2008, and found a pair of his favorite childhood denim, destined for the charity shop. “I couldn’t part with them; they were such a big part of my past. Inspired by my old jeans I had the idea of cutting up old pairs of jeans to create images prolonging the life of the jean,” says Ian. And so he has, as his artwork is commissioned and exhibited in various galleries worldwide!
