Known for his gorgeous liquids’ photography, New York-based Japanese Shinichi Maruyama now explores the fluidity of a human body, aiming to capture movement with static photography. What looks like a long exposure effect in his ‘Nude’ series, is actually created by putting together multiple shots of nude models dancing.

Maruyama’s work is unique in how it brings back the secrecy and intimacy to a nude body, without the necessity to expose bits of flesh like it’s become common to. Nude series is very multilayered, and the stroking movements of the models create almost a sculptural effect in the final print. Maruyama immortalizes the beauty of the body through motion, thus also merging his photography with the essence of dance and theater.
