Artist Covers an Entire Kitchen With Millions of Glass Beads

Published 2 years ago

What you’ll see in the pictures below is actually a real life-size kitchen, only it’s covered entirely in millions of glass beads. American artist Liza Lou spent 5 years creating this Kitchen and Backyard installation, placing every single bead separately with tweezers. When she was done, even the tiniest piece in the kitchen was given a shiny bead surface. You’ll see that Liza installed them on beer bottles, cutlery and even a newspaper on the kitchen table.

Based in South Africa, the artist was inspired by traditional African bead crafts, and even collaborates with local artisans, who have been working with this art medium for generations. The final result is truly jaw-dropping!
