Facebook Celebrates 50th Anniversary Of Star Trek With New Emojis

This one’s for you Star Trek fans! To commemorate the 50th anniversary (already!?) of the famous TV show / movie franchise, Facebook has splashed some of that sci-fi flavour on its new series of custom emojis.

According to Facebook’s Lindsey Shepard, the series of Star Trek reactions are temporary and only exclusive to “some Star Trek fans in the US and Canada”. But if you’re lucky enough to qualify, then you’ll also need to like the official Star Trek page. When all that’s done, you’ll be invited to add a custom Star Trek frame to make your profile picture represent the real geek you are.

Living in the wrong place? Sad, but there’s a glimmer of hope, because from where we’re looking it seems that Facebook will be going Google’s route with these custom celebrations. Just like with Google’s constantly changing logo, we believe it’s not the last time we’ll see Facebook’s custom reactions.
