A young Japanese illustrator Tomoko Shintani has added a little bit more charm to the already beloved Starbucks coffee cups by turning them into cute 3D comics series.

“There was no particular reason or idea. I just drew on a cup because it was ‘paper,’” says Tomoko.

Her drawings feature a little girl, usually accompanied by her pet cat, having fun in different settings. Tomoko’s little doodles start on a piece of paper and use a coffee cup as part of the canvas – that way she creates a slight anamorphic effect.

The artist says one drawing takes her about an hour, which is around the same time you’d spend on a nice tall late, so have one and find your inspiration!
