10 Embroidered Portraits That Look Amazingly Realistic, As Created By Ruth Miller

Published 2 years ago

Ruth Miller is a U.S.-based artist who creates realistic embroidered portraits that are incredibly detailed. Her portraits not only evoke vivid emotions but also provides a sense of warmth. The colorful threads and yarns come out beautifully through her tapestry and the intricate stitches are so perfectly designed that the final result looks like a painting.

As mentioned on her website, Ruth developed a love of making art and doing needlework in childhood. Later, she combined the two and began to create embroidered art as an alternative to painting. The artist also reveals on her website why she chose embroidery over painting: “Paintings can indeed be quicker to produce: three per year? per month? per week? per day? But paint is messy. Yarn and thread, on the other hand, are clean, dry, and quiet. Fiber is warm: literally and figuratively also. Its familiarity is both comforting and attractive.” To find out more about the artist’s ideas and inspirations, don’t forget to check out her website.
