New Pixar-Like Short Film About A Boy Coming Out Is Exploding Online For All The Right Reasons

Published 7 years ago

We’ve seen countless love stories made into adorable short movies by the animation giants Pixar and many others. But we were yet to see an example of love that doesn’t ignore countless people in the LGBTQ community. That is, of course, until ‘In a Heartbeat’ was made.

At first, a computer animation thesis by art and design students Beth David and Esteban Bravo, the 4-minute-long video has now turned into something way bigger. And it’s thanks to the incredible support not only on Youtube (almost 6 million views already), but also on Kickstarter, where the campaign generated almost 5 times more support than the team originally asked for.

But let’s draw the focus away from the financial acclaim, because this short movie also breaks ice where it needed to break. It gives voice to people who otherwise would stay silent. And if you’re one of them – this might show that you’re not alone going through this, and if you’re not – let this be an exercise in tolerance, because after all, who are we to tell others what should make them happy.
