Artist Found A Brilliant Way To Use Old CDs By Turning Them Into Incredible Sculptures

Published 7 years ago

Sean Avery is responsible for some of the most incredible upcycled art we’ve seen. Broken and unwanted CDs (which you probably also have a bunch) are turned into sculptures with unique profile and texture.

The South African (now Australia-based) artist makes these sculptures by gluing CD shards to a wire mesh frame which he always shapes into an animal of his choice.

“My sculptures are all constructed with recycled materials — old CDs, computer hard drives etc, so I classify my work as “sustainable art,” says the artist. “They’re a lot of fun to make, but they take an extremely long time to finish, so I don’t do a lot of them.”
