Artist Shannon Lee Creates Humanized Versions Of Animals And Cartoon Characters (20 Pics)

Published 3 years ago

A lot of us have seen our fair share of Disney character recreations but Australian artist Shannon Lee decided to try out something different by turning them into humans. And she did not stop there – the artist also created some human versions of animals, and her works are simply stunning.

In a recent interview with Bored Panda, Shannon said she has been drawing forever. “Apparently, I saw my mother painting when I was only a year old and wanted to join in,” revealed the artist. “My parents tell me they didn’t have kid-safe paints so they gave me some shaving foam and had me colour in the roses that were growing outside! Haha! They’re wild people.”

Shannon says that designing characters is her absolute favorite thing. “It’s sort of an exciting challenge to think about who you want a character to be and then to translate that into shapes, colors and stylistic choices, etc; problem-solving so that another viewer could get a solid read of who that character is,”says the artist.

Even though the artist creates a lot of humanized versions of characters these days, she revealed that she had a phase where she didn’t enjoy drawing humans. “I didn’t practice them because they weren’t fun to me and as a result, I ended up with repetitive “same face syndrome” designs,” said Shannon. Then the artist remembered seeing other artists create reimagined versions of characters that she enjoyed and started creating some of her own.

One day, this guy just kind of figured - "I spend most of my time on the internet anyway, why not turn it into a profession?" - and he did! Now he not only gets to browse the latest cat videos and fresh memes every day but also shares them with people all over the world, making sure they stay up to date with everything that's trending on the web. Some things that always pique his interest are old technologies, literature and all sorts of odd vintage goodness. So if you find something that's too bizarre not to share, make sure to hit him up!

Got wisdom to pour?
