Tufting Artist Turns Rugs Into Bold And Beautiful Wall Art
David Nott is a precision fine artist skilled in the realm of textiles and dotwork. His latest artistic explorations have seen him transform a traditional carpet-making technique into bold and dynamic wall art.
The tufter was inspired by abstract patterns and vibrant colour palettes to create these fluffy, tactile textiles that add a playful, psychedelic touch to homes. Nott uses Adobe illustrtaor to map out his designs before crafting them in fully textured form. Using a tufting gun, he shoots loops of yarn to create these one a kind masterpieces through large mesh canvases, that entice viewers to not only see the art but to also attempt to touch it and feel it.

He explained that he was initially drawn to dotwork, “The first medium I fell in love with was dotwork, which is virtually black and white pointillism. After exploring it for 10 years or so, I wanted to experience creating in colour. the sculptural and tactile aspects are what really enticed me.”

When asked about his creative process, Nott divulged that his inspirations are often simple, “Sometimes a piece starts with a word or a concept, other times it’s inspired by a specific color pallet. Although the logistics of every piece is unique the process is generally broken down into: conceptualization, design and physical creation.”
