15 Mind-Blowing Fluid Art Pieces By Aravis Dolmenna
Aravis Dolmenna is an artist who has a unique approach to creating captivating visual art using simple, everyday materials. In a world where art often demands grand gestures and complex techniques, Dolmenna reminds us that creativity can flourish with the most basic elements – water and milk.
Dolmenna’s fluid art pieces are mesmerizing in their simplicity. She skillfully manipulates water and milk to form abstract shapes, intricate patterns, and even recognizable symbols. The interplay between the fluid’s opacity and the light surrounding it creates stunning visual effects that seem almost ethereal.
Aravis Dolmenna describes herself as an English woman, mother, partner, and grandmother. She shares, “I have worked outdoors and with my hands for most of my life. I have always felt a great connection with nature and have tried to live a fairly simple and frugal life.” This philosophy extends to her art, where she enjoys finding new purposes for old things. As she puts it, “I have always enjoyed finding new purpose for old things, feeling that it not only gives a sense of achievement and appreciation, but encourages creativity.”
Dolmenna’s journey into art began like that of many children, through play and school projects. Reflecting on her childhood, she says, “I first got into art is the same way all children do, through playing and projects at school. As a child, we spent several years without a TV.” This lack of distraction fueled her imagination and inspired her to explore creativity differently.
She believes that art doesn’t require expensive materials, saying, “I extended the ethos of frugality to my art, trying not to buy too many craft materials but to be inventive with the everyday things around me.” Dolmenna experiments with objects like spilled water, bananas, flour, and eggs, explaining, “They are such beautiful tactile objects that you have a work of art before you add anything.”
When asked about her creative process, Dolmenna shares, “I don’t take myself too seriously, the main thing is to just give things a go. Sometimes you love the results, sometimes not, but that is how we learn.” Simplicity is at the core of her work; as she puts it, “I like to keep things very simple, you only have to suggest an idea with a few lines, the viewer’s mind will fill in the rest, often less is more.”
She prefers to play around with materials at hand, emphasizing, “I just play around with the material and supplies you have around you.” She also shares that using plain colored cards as backgrounds and natural light gives her pictures their signature soft, simple look.
In a world saturated with digital art and meticulously crafted visuals, Dolmenna’s work stands out as a reminder of the power of simplicity. It challenges our perception of beauty and encourages us to find artistry in everyday materials. Her art invites us to slow down, observe, and appreciate the elegance hidden within the ordinary.
