Life is full of candid camera moments, you just need a photographer to be there to capture them. René Maltête based his career on being that man. He took amusing snapshots of French life, sometimes working for simple visual amusement, other times aiming to elicit philosophical thought.
René Maltête was born in 1930 and lived until 2000. He got his first camera when he was sixteen and worked hard to support his art. After he moved to Paris in 1951, he worked with some of photography's greats while supporting himself through menial labor. altête's works are now published by his son.
