Dad Asks Daughter How To Be An Influencer, Says It’s Easy And Proves It With 430K Followers

Published 5 years ago

It seems that everywhere you turn, there’s an influencer trying to capture the perfect picture of their latte or advertising some sort of sketchy food supplement you’ve never heard of. But turns out you don’t have to be a swimsuit model or a bodybuilder to become an influencer – and this dad, Omar, from Austin, Texas proved it.

A short while ago, this burly Texan construction worker asked his daughter what an influencer was and after she explained, he simply said “Pssh, I could do that” and accepted the challenge.

This girl’s dad quickly realized how this whole ‘influencing’ thing works and surprised everyone

Ever since he posted his first picture back on May 4th, he already gained over 434k followers on his Instagram account called justaconstructionguy.

Of course, Omar is not your typical influencer. He does everything with a little more style – and more bright yellow vests

In an article for The Atlantic, writer Taylor Lorenz described what look are most influencers going for: bright walls, artfully arranged lattes and avocado toast, and Millennial-pink everything, all with that carefully staged, color-corrected, glossy-looking aesthetic. However, you won’t find most of these things in Omar’s photos and the only latte we spotted was inside the lid of a thermos.

Omar’s sudden success proves that most people are tired of seeing the same people striking the same poses over and over again and that they want to see something new. After all, if you compared some of the photos most influencers take side-by-side, you’d realize most of them are practically identical.

Love him or hate him, you have to agree that Omar’s photos are a fresh take on the massively overcrowded “influencing industry”.

People on the internet seem to love Omar

One day, this guy just kind of figured - "I spend most of my time on the internet anyway, why not turn it into a profession?" - and he did! Now he not only gets to browse the latest cat videos and fresh memes every day but also shares them with people all over the world, making sure they stay up to date with everything that's trending on the web. Some things that always pique his interest are old technologies, literature and all sorts of odd vintage goodness. So if you find something that's too bizarre not to share, make sure to hit him up!

Got wisdom to pour?
