Irina Greciuhina, a Moldovan architect, is most passionate about painting—a pursuit that transformed her involvement in the international art world. Her large-scale oil and acrylic paintings have been displayed in the US, UK, Paris and more. Though art was always present in her life, it became vital when self-expression grew essential, turning painting into her language for conveying her inner world.
Heavily influenced by memories, dreams, literature, and cinema, Greciuhina’s artistic focus is also informed by her architectural background, giving her a unique perspective on space, rhythm, and composition. She elaborated that painting offered her the chance to step beyond the confines of specific projects and engage with something more personal—a dialogue with her inner self, a meditation on the philosophy of time, an attempt to capture the fleeting images of memory.
Greciuhina admitted she often embarks on her creative process without knowing the destination. She describes the beginning as an image or association spontaneously drawn from memories, a word, a dream, or music, and she intuitively allows the painting to develop organically. The process can be challenging at times or effortless at others, but the ongoing dialogue with the canvas is what matters to her—the sense that she and the canvas are on this journey together, searching for form and meaning in each piece.
