Stuart Dunkel is a talented American painter known for his realistic yet playful oil paintings. His specialty? Tiny, expressive mice—especially one named Chuckie, his recurring muse. With their big round ears, mischievous expressions, and interactions with everyday objects, Dunkel’s mice tell fun little stories in each painting.
Stuart's bio says, "The mouse paintings first appeared as part of a running joke with his wife about why there were crumbs on the kitchen counter". After adding his latest painting to an exhibition, he was pleasantly surprised when it sold immediately. Today, Stuart continues to paint mice and their little shenanigans. "The mouse is clearly autobiographical, but he is also a universal spirit, sharing emotional experiences that range from delight to fear—usually with a sense of humor as well."
