Red Burgers Coming To Burger King In Japan

Published 9 years ago

If your burger is coal black or blood red, something has gone very wrong. Unless you’re in Japan – then it means you’ve gone to Burger King! This summer, Burger King Japan with be featuring two kinds of red burger, the Aka Samurai Beef and Aka Samurai Chicken (aka means red in Japanese). Tomato powder is what makes the bun red and the cheese crimson. As for the sauce, it’s a special “Angry sauce”: based on miso, it includes tobanjan chili sauce and togarashi pepper. It will run from July 3rd.

The Kuro (black)burger was first introduced in 2012. The color of the cheese and the bun comes from charcoal. I can confirm from experience that it looks weirder than it tastes! The burger will come in two varieties: Kuro Shogun, with grilled eggplant and Kuro Taisho (general), with hash browns. It will run from August 21st till October.

Mixing colors, the Twin Pie pack will run for the entire summer. The First pie is a little weird, combining a bamboo charcoal crust with a salted caramel and pear filling. The other is much more… pie-like, with a cherry powder flour crust and cherry filling.
