Crochet Artist Turns Yarn Into A Gourmet Seafood Experience (20 Pics)

Published 5 hours ago

When most of us think of seafood, we picture fresh oysters on ice, glistening lobsters, or a steaming bowl of mussels. For textile artist Kate Jenkins, however, seafood isn’t something to be cooked or eaten, it’s something to be stitched, sequined, and brought to life with a crochet hook.

Famous for her witty and hyper-detailed creations, Jenkins has earned a reputation for transforming everyday food into dazzling works of textile art. From delicate sushi rolls to overflowing prawn platters, her crocheted dishes are so astonishingly lifelike that you might instinctively reach for a fork.

“I love to knit and crochet and find it easier to work in this medium,” she tells DeMilked. “I am totally passionate about what I do and spend hours working out ways to make the artworks as beautiful as possible, and if I can get a joke or a visual pun in the piece and make someone smile that is an added bonus.”

Here’s a look at some of Jenkins’ most brilliant works that blur the line between art and appetite.
