Suíssas Snaps Fun Photos By Playfully Adding Everyday Objects To The World Around Him

Published 4 hours ago

We are only limited by our imagination and one creative photographer aims to break our expectations through his imaginative captures. Residing in Lisbon, Portugal, Suíssas casts a forced perspective on the world through his playful compositions. The strategic placement of items to create instantly recognisable everyday objects, is a fun and unique interpretation of building designs and architecture.

Through his vibrant transformations, Suíssas hopes that his audience will appreciate how playing with perspective can change what we see. Speaking to DeMilked in an interview, he mentioned he has been experimenting with this particular type of photography for going on 13 years. When asked about the inspirations which influence his work, the artist responded, “When I was a kid, I did magic as a hobby and did some magic shows. For me, magic and perspective are similar in the sense that all is an illusion. I have started to use perspective in my photos, when I’ve realised that it was a great technique to convey an idea and get a reaction from the public. I believe that it was my “magic” childhood that inspired me to do what I do today. However, perspective is just a tool that not always is present in my work”

Once the fun reinterpretations of our bare surroundings are captured through Suíssas’ imaginative lens, the concepts seem simple and obvious to viewers. However, to achieve this level of nonchalant alignment each composition takes consistent daily effort to see beyond the straightforward and into the possibilities. The artist elaborated, “My head doesn’t know what the word “stop” means, and since the world never stops, I would say that it’s a great combination. I am a simple guy, I like simplicity and a simple life. I am what you may call an obsessive artist, in the sense that I won’t stop until I materialise in a photo what is in my head. It’s a great deal of hard work. Everyday I sat on my desk with a white paper and pen and I exercise my brain, trying to have meaningful ideas and interesting projects. What made me get here is my almost uncontrollable desire to create things that haven’t been done before in this planet, or any other in the galaxy. This is what gets me going.”

Suíssas went on to explain, “Each photograph has its moment. There are no rules. I always have a lot of references in my head and when I pass by places, somehow these references that are in my head gain a new life and transform into new photographs. When I passed by these places, these shapes simply came to mind. I believe I have visions. I like to believe that each image I create can change someone’s day for the better. I like people to create their own interpretation of my images. That they can travel a little bit to a surrealist world in the midst of their more realistic lives”.

Shanilou Perera

Shanilou has always loved reading and learning about the world we live in. While she enjoys fictional books and stories just as much, since childhood she was especially fascinated by encyclopaedias and strangely enough, self-help books. As a kid, she spent most of her time consuming as much knowledge as she could get her hands on and could always be found at the library. Now, she still enjoys finding out about all the amazing things that surround us in our day-to-day lives and is blessed to be able to write about them to share with the whole world as a profession.

Got wisdom to pour?
