10 Surreal Portraits That Blurs The Boundaries Between Reality And Imagination, As Created By Mumi

Published 2 years ago

Mumi, an artist based in Argentina, creates wonderful surreal portraits by combining various elements like feathers, flowers, leaves, birds, human faces, etc. Her works are mostly inspired by nature and the sea.

The artist started creating collages when she was 13-14 years old. She says, “As a teenager, I was really drawn to graphic design. I collected discoteque flyers, magazines, and maps from all over the world.” She also reveals that the lockdown period gave her the opportunity to focus on collage again. “…it was a very deep self-exploration tool for me which I think came out naturally,” the artist adds.

Mumi also mentions, “There are endless possibilities when I cut an image. I take it out of its context, its direct meaning or its origin and I give it a new surreal environment.”

Check out her stunning works in the gallery below.
