Photographer Documents The Friendship Between Wolf And Bear

The latest and strangest animal friendship has to be between this young wolf and a bear. Finnish photographer Lassi Rautiainen took the pictures of the beastly buddies. “It’s very unusual to see a bear and a wolf getting on like this,” he said. For ten days straight, a female grey wolf and male brown bear would meet every night and spend hours together. Sometimes, they would even share food.

“No-one can know exactly why or how the young wolf and bear became friends,” Rautiainen told one website. “I think that perhaps they were both alone and they were young and a bit unsure of how to survive alone…It is nice to share rare events in the wild that you would never expect to see.” Lassi Rautiainen is a veteran nature photographer, who seeks to educate people about Finland's biggest carnivores - and is totally not an infiltrator sent to lull us into not caring about the future bear-wolf alliance.
