Usually it's the double exposure photographers that try to combine animals and their surroundings. Not so with Sam Larson! He uses paints and inks to make his pictures. That's how we get to see buffaloes with the prairie inside them. You can say that an animal encapsulates its environment in itself; after all, it the product of its surroundings!

Sam Larson is freelance designer and illustrator from Portland, and the owner of Steel Bison store. "I’m not much of a quote person or pinpointing one thing when it comes to design," Larson commented on his motivations in an online interview. "I simply create because I love it. You have to love it.
