Japanese Artist Manami Sasaki’s Toast Art Looks Too Beautiful To Eat

Published 21 hours ago

It may be considered rude to play with your food in normal circumstances. But when the results are as stunning as Manami Sasaki’s Art on Toast, the act seems forgivable. The edible art designs on sliced bread are a symphony of visual craftsmanship as well as a culinary delight for discerning tastebuds.

The painstaking effort and impressive intricacy makes for incredibly beautiful breakfast arrangements. A talent the native of Tokyo discovered during lockdown times when she was forced to stay indoors and find novel means of expressing her creativity. She has created five distinct types of toast with different flavour palates and design elements known as, Zen Toast, Ukiyoe Toast, Kingyo Toast, Radish Toast and Planting Toast. The meticulous attention to detail is evident in the delicate balance of colour, design and flavour that the artist works into each creation.

Though the visually pleasing toast looks too amazing to eat, the Japanese artist uses everyday ingredients as her chosen design materials.  She utilises various cabbages, fruits, seeds, seaweed and more to create designs inspired by a variety of influences from traditional Japanese aesthetics to pop culture. The theme this art project focuses on is “observing and being one with the world, living in the moment”.

Shanilou Perera

Shanilou has always loved reading and learning about the world we live in. While she enjoys fictional books and stories just as much, since childhood she was especially fascinated by encyclopaedias and strangely enough, self-help books. As a kid, she spent most of her time consuming as much knowledge as she could get her hands on and could always be found at the library. Now, she still enjoys finding out about all the amazing things that surround us in our day-to-day lives and is blessed to be able to write about them to share with the whole world as a profession.

Got wisdom to pour?
