13 Portraits Of Animals With Disabilities By Photographer Alex Cearns

Published 4 years ago

Alex Cearns is an Australian animal photographer who reveals the beautiful side of disabled rescue animals in her heartwarming portrait series titled Perfect Imperfection. In an interview with Bored Panda, the photographer said that one of her most passionate aims as an animal photographer is to capture all the adorable subtleties that make them unique. “These are the canines who have lost a leg, been born without eyes, or are still showing the scars of former abuse,” said Alex.

The photographer says that most of these animals’ disabilities don’t dwell on them. “They adapt to their bodies without complaint and they survive with determination. They push on, always, wanting to be included and involved in everything as much as they can, and as much as an able-bodied pet does,” said Alex. “They need the same love as any other pet, and give the same love as any other pet – and they each have value as sentient beings.”

Alex says that the animals’ tenacity to overcome their misfortunes never ceases to amaze her. “They make the most out of life and from them I have learned so much about always seeing the positive in every situation and never giving up,” said the photographer. One day, this guy just kind of figured - "I spend most of my time on the internet anyway, why not turn it into a profession?" - and he did! Now he not only gets to browse the latest cat videos and fresh memes every day but also shares them with people all over the world, making sure they stay up to date with everything that's trending on the web. Some things that always pique his interest are old technologies, literature and all sorts of odd vintage goodness. So if you find something that's too bizarre not to share, make sure to hit him up!

Got wisdom to pour?
