The Residents Of This Care Home Love Their Chef Who Constantly Surprises Them With Elaborate Meals
If you ever had to stay in a hospital for a few days, you know how terrible the food can be – and care homes are usually not that different. However, one chef out there is trying to bring some life into seniors’ meals, making sure they get restaurant-quality food and not just plain steamed vegetables and porridge.
Meet Kevin – a chef that works in a care home in Perthshire, Scotland. The man not only creates hearty and aesthetically pleasing meals for seniors, but he also involves them in developing the menu and, unsurprisingly, the residents absolutely love him. Kevin’s sister, Yvonne, recently shared pictures of some of the dishes he created to Imgur, where they went viral almost instantly.
In a recent interview with Bored Panda, Yvonne said she’s extremely proud of her brother and that the two are always discussing food and recipes. The woman had recently become vegan and is constantly asking Kevin for ideas. “When he shared these photos with me, I just thought, ‘Wow, I need other people to see what he does.’ During this strange time of the COVID-19 lockdown, care homes have had it tough and I just wanted people to see the happiness my brother brings to the residents,” said Yvonne.
Yvonne says that Kevin is overwhelmed by all the positive comments he received and the two hope that his ideas and recipes will inspire others to try out new things in their own kitchen.
