Life With Depression Explained By Optipess

Published 9 years ago

Depression is horrible illness and Optipess is a webcomic that deals with it from time to time. The bespectacled guy is the comic’s closest equivalent of a recurring character, and for him, depression is a dark, wizened humanoid that lives inside him. Or an overweight fairy that takes your darkest thoughts away only to throw them all back at you to spoil a pleasurable moment.

Optipess is a webcomic by Kristian Nygård who explains the comic title as a “word you’d maybe end up with if you combined the two words “optimism” and “pessimism”. It’s issued in print on the monthly Kollektivet magazine. Previously, it was a guest strip inthe national newspaper Aftenposten on July 2010 and, on August of 2012, in the Norwegian version of Le Monde diplomatique.
