10 Pop Culture Icons Deconstructed Through Abstract Geometric Prism

Published 8 hours ago

French-artist 8TH PROJECT uses geometric shapes, colours and lines to create familiar figures popular in pop culture. Whether it’s the Pink Panther, Mickey Mouse or Pikachu, the cultural references pop out from the abstract reconstructed sillouhettes.

Currently based in Mexico since 2019, this unique technique has become 8TH PROJECT’s signature style. The strive for visual symmmetry unhindered by structure was inspired by Kandinsky, Picasso and Paul Klee. The artist’s experiments with these influences forged a signature style  of amalgamating mass-media icons with geometric compositions that relate to modern audiences. The suggestion of recognizable characters are the results of a delicate balance of assymetrical features consisiting of flat lines, bright colours and geometric shapes. Each piece is a carefully balanced interpretation of a pop hero in singular graphic form.

Shanilou Perera

Shanilou has always loved reading and learning about the world we live in. While she enjoys fictional books and stories just as much, since childhood she was especially fascinated by encyclopaedias and strangely enough, self-help books. As a kid, she spent most of her time consuming as much knowledge as she could get her hands on and could always be found at the library. Now, she still enjoys finding out about all the amazing things that surround us in our day-to-day lives and is blessed to be able to write about them to share with the whole world as a profession.

Got wisdom to pour?
