These Instagram Travel Photos Show How Cropping Changes Everything

Published 9 years ago

Cropping is the great bane of photographic objectivity. Limitless’ project #BrokenIndia shows what is left outside of glamorous holiday shots. While we send the beautiful and vibrant pictures of India on Instagram, we leave out the images of poverty and pollution. Like it’s stated on the project’s post, “there are two sides to a coin.”

“While we have 5-star hotels on one side, we have slums on the other,” Limitless team said in an online interview. “While children are seen as the future of the country, they’re also forced into child labour.” The Indian team wanted to attract attention to social issues in the country. The project is similar to a more whimsical project about fabulous Instagram life that you can see here.
