Unload It

Before you rush into your workout, it will be necessary to warm warm-up a bit and prepare everything for your first exercise. While it might seem banal, unloading a trailer full of wood is definitely not a simple task. This seemingly ridiculous chore will help you increase your blood flow and activate all your muscle groups at once. It will be necessary to work everything from your legs and back, up to your core and arms. After you have unloaded everything and probably started breaking a sweat, it’s time to move on to the first exercise.

Walking Lunges

For this exercise you will need an oversized log that you will keep above your head until you move on to the next step. Lunges are one of the best exercises that put focus on your glutes and your hamstring muscles. Start by lunging forward with your right leg until your thigh is parallel to the ground and your left knee is slightly touching the ground. Repeat again, but now with the left leg leading. It is important to keep your back straight at all times and not break form.

Squat Down

Squats are the ultimate exercise for activating the lower part of the body. This exercise can be done in two separate manners, depending on your ability. You can do a back squat, with the log placed on the back of your shoulders or you can opt for a regular front squat. In this case, the log should be resting in your arms, in front of your body, raised as high as possible. Try to squat as deep as it is comfortable for you, just make sure to keep your torso straight and your back flat.

Wood Splitting

Now it’s time to work those arms and core muscles. Wood processing is the best way to activate those muscle groups and is a great way to prepare some fuelwood. Firstly, you will want to split the wood into smaller pieces by using a chainsaw or a log splitter. The latter is much more convenient, but if you haven’t used it, it would be a good idea to read some log splitter reviews, in order to fully grasp how it’s used.

Sharpen Your Axe

The last exercise is designed to burn you out completely. It will require all of your strength, especially in arms, abs and back. Splitting logs with an axe is one of the most demanding exercises and counts both as a strength training and a cardio one. It also requires a fair amount of concentration, so it can be a good mental exercise as well.

There was always something appealing about strong, handy men who know how to handle demanding tasks such as chopping wood. It is no wonder that lumberjacks are perceived as the ultimate alfa males, as they are strong, masculine and simply exude with confidence. If you wish to achieve that lumberjack sex appeal, make sure to follow this workout thoroughly.
