The Underwater Photographer of the Year competition explores the beauty of our majestic ocean. This year, the competition received more than 6,000 entries from 72 different countries. The American photographer Kat Zhou won the first prize for the image of an endangered river dolphin.

Many photographers showed their talent by submitting pictures of the beauty of oceans and their degradation by humans. Check out the winning images in the gallery below.
