Artist Paints Random Character Into Old Thrift Store Paintings (Part 2)
David Irvine is at it again! His project Re-Directed Art takes old thrift-store paintings and gives them more pizzazz by adding colourful characters. Where only idyllic landscapes once stood, Stormtroopers now go ice skating with lord Vader and Jesus scoots on a Segway. It breathes some new life into the old paintings: after all, while they‘re not all bad, they are a little on the bland side. The additional illustrations themselves range from quite fitting (especially where Star Wars is concerned) to somewhat random, like aircraft boarding stairs in the middle of meadow.
David Irvine has been creating art for some time. He is not new to upcycling nor sculpture, and he attends expositions of his works. In total, he has been making art for more than 25 years, and selling it for some time, too. You can see some of his works on sale on Etsy!
Now if you found some in a thrift store…
