20 Ceramic Sculptures That Are So Dreamy, They Don’t Even Look Real (20 Pics)

Published 2 days ago

When the beauty of nature merges with the versatility of clay, the result is nothing short of magical. Artists around the world have been crafting intricate sculptures that blur the lines between reality and fantasy, creating pieces that look like they’ve been plucked from the pages of a fairytale. Carol Long is one such artist who creates magic with ceramics. From delicate flowers sprouting from ceramic creatures to whimsical woodland scenes immortalized in clay, these creations capture the wonder of the natural world in breathtaking detail.

Talking about her inspirations, Carol shares, “Manipulating a piece of clay and solving problems throughout the process has always been intriguing. One will never stop learning when working with clay. Clay can continue after firing to look as fluid as it was before firing.”

Her process is just as fascinating. “Usually pieces are based on the vessel- wheel thrown, slab, extrusion, cast. Altered considerably from their original form and then the surface is slip trailed. Fired with commercial glazes to cone 5 oxidation,” she explains.

These works showcase incredible craftsmanship and imagination, transforming earth into vibrant, organic forms. Scroll down to see some stunning clay sculptures where nature takes center stage.
