Giant Octopus Drawn Using Only Discarded Ballpoint Pens

Published 9 years ago

Ballpoint pens don’t create art – until you make them do it. Artist Raymond Cicin even used them to draw a magnificent octopus! The artist was inspired by designer friends complaining that ballpoint pens just weren’t good for art. Cicin collected their discarded pens and set out to create a giant blue tribute to ballpoints.

The octopus is inspired by German naturalist Ernst Von Haeckel’s illustrations of squid and octopi. The new octopus is a part of Cicin’s ongoing series Deep Blue.
