20 Times This Photographer Used The Forced Perspective Technique To Capture Creative Photos

Published 2 years ago

Hugo Suissas is a photographer based in Portugal who captures fascinating pictures using the forced perspective technique. The artist who currently works in advertising has been doing creative photography for the past 10 years.

In an interview with DeMilked, Hugo revealed how he manages to focus on his career and hobby at the same time – “In my life there are 2 worlds, Instagram and Advertising, they complement each other.”

“The work I do on Instagram makes me relax from the advertising work (or the opposite ahah) and I still make money on both sides. And this relationship with creativity inevitably gave rise to a creative photographic work”, he added. Check out some of his cool and creative photos in the gallery below.

“The perspective technique is just a crumb in the middle of all this, it’s just a resource to materialize my ideas. It’s all about the idea”, the photographer explained about his photographic style.

Suissas also revealed that he did magic tricks and even some shows as a hobby when he was a kid. He further said, “For me, magic and perspective are similar in the sense that all is an illusion. I have started to use perspective in my photos, when I’ve realised that it was a great technique to convey an idea and get a reaction from the public. I believe that it was my “magic” childhood that inspired me to do what I do today.”

When we asked Suissas what inspires him, he said that his inspiration comes from daily work – “Inspiration is a delicate process and it only works if we stop for a while and look for it. Nowadays there are 1 million pieces of information a day, so it’s very easy to get lost in the middle of it all. The secret is to stop, search, breathe, think and execute. And for that you need discipline and time. That’s what I do everyday.”

Talking about his creative process, he said, “My head doesn’t know what the word “stop” means, and since the world never stops, I would say that it’s a great combination. I am a simple guy, I like simplicity and a simple life. I am what you may call an obsessive artist, in the sense that I won’t stop until I materialize in a photo what it’s in my head. It’s a great deal of hard work. My creative process is one of crazy obsession, without rules but with a lot of daily discipline.”

“What made me get here is my almost uncontrollable desire to create things that haven’t been done before on this planet, or any other in the galaxy. This is what gets me going. Whenever I have an idea, I feel like the happiest person in the world”, he added.
