Spanish Artist Creates Delicate Pressed Flower Sculptures From The Most Famous European Gardens

Published 10 years ago

Much like dried leaves, dried flowers have all sorts warm summer-autumn colors, giving them a nice rustic decorative feel. Ignacio Canales Aracil collects flowers from the most famous gardens in Europe and weaves them into specially-molded forms to make beautiful sculptures. Eventually, beautiful and fragile sculptures emerge.

The fact that they need to mention that these figures can hold their own weight speaks volumes about the level of craftsmanship and dedication needed to make them. It’s not a new art, though, and there are examples of pressed flower work that date back to Egypt. Looking at these dry, brittle sculptures and drinking in their beauty, one can understand why such a careful craft has not been forgotten.
