Chinese Airline Introduces New Haute Couture Uniforms, And It Looks High Fashion

Published 7 years ago

One Chinese airline has just taken their crew uniforms to the next level by introducing the stylish haute couture attire for their flight attendants.

Hainan Airlines showed off their new style at the Paris Couture Week. Designed by Laurence Xu, the uniforms are inspired by the ‘Cheongsam’, a traditional Chinese dress that women usually wear for more formal occasions. It features imagery common to the traditional Chinese art: like drawings of clouds, waves and their mythical bird of prey – the Roc. All this mixed with a Western-style draping for a more modern and international look.

“The cooperation between Hainan Airlines and Lawrence Xu is industry leading. We are not only creating a new uniform but also showing the internationalized image of our airline. Especially on international routes, we would like to let passengers know that China is modern and trendy,” said Xu Fei, brand director of Hainan Airlines.

Men’s uniforms are a bit more conservative and Wester-looking, with double-breasted overcoats and smaller hints of Chinese traditional elements.
