Published 6 years ago

The polar vortex might have long passed but people still remember the havoc this weather phenomenon created. However, along with all the troubles, the vortex created some beautiful unintentional works of art all of us can enjoy.

As the water is moving underneath the ice, it pushes the ice sheets to the surface, creating unique patterns. You might be tempted to go and capture some beautiful photos but US Coast Guards warned people to keep their distance. “No ice is safe ice especially this time of year,” said US Coast Guard BMC Grant Heffner in an interview with MLive. “The ice is certainly deteriorating and breaking up.”

This is not the first case of Lake Michigan freezing over and photographers have been taking pictures of the frozen lake for years.
