10 Wonderful Octopus-Themed Teacups Made With Polymer Clay, As Created By Sahasa

Published 2 years ago

Sahasa, an artist based in the Netherlands, Europe, creates a variety of work, mostly themed around water-dwelling creatures, using a mix of vintage, found, and new materials.

The artist’s sculptures are collected by people all across the world, and one of her most fascinating projects is ‘octopus teacups’. The octopus became a rich source of inspiration for Sahasa as they are fascinating, diverse creatures and provide plenty of colorful material to work with. She generally sculpts octopuses by hand from a mixture of polymer clays, paints them, and then adorns them with a variety of things.

Talking about how she started making her octopus cups, Sahasa reveals, “I was gifted a set of gorgeous vintage tea cups that I continued to explore this subject on and off, creating variations on my original concept.” She began revisiting her tea cup designs more intensely this year and explored new and different ways to execute the concept.

Do follow the artist on Instagram and take a look at her Etsy store if you’d like to buy any of her cool stuff. Check out some of her wonderful works in the gallery below.
