15 Winning Photos From The Society of Photographers’ Photographer Of The Year 2025 Awards
The 2025 Society of Photographers’ Photographer of the Year finalists have been announced, and the competition has delivered a standout collection of images across 28 categories. Leading the pack is Therese Asplund, who has been crowned Photographer of the Year. Her winning image, a striking shot of birds, also took first place in the Pet Portrait category. “Demonstrating outstanding skill, narrative depth, and execution, this bold and distinctive image emerged as a clear standout and generated animated discussion among the judges,” the Society said in a statement.
In second place is Norwegian photographer Cecile Stuedal, whose dynamic photograph of a red fox snapping at a crab in mid-air earned her the top spot in the “Natural World – Wild Animals” category as well. Third place went to British photographer Terry Donnelly, whose powerful work won the “Documentary” category. This year’s competition drew nearly 6,000 entries from photographers who know how to tell a story through a single frame. From expressive portraits to cinematic landscapes and gripping documentary scenes, the 28 winners highlight some of the most exciting work created by Society members this year. These images didn’t just amaze the panel of judges; they got people talking.
