15 Mystical And Otherworldly Sculptures Of ‘Moss People’ Created By Kim Simonsson
Kim Simonsson is an artist who has worked as a sculptor full-time for 19 years. In 2015, he started creating mystical figures popularly known as the “Moss people”. Placed in isolated areas, the sculptures in this series are green from head to toe and they appear as mysterious personalities. The artist does not provide much information about the characters and leaves them open for interpretation.
In an interview with DeMilked, he revealed, “Originally I wanted to become a painter but by chance, I got accepted to the ceramics and glass department in the design university in Helsinki.” He realized soon that sculpting was more natural for him than painting.
The artist further elaborated, “I worked with my hands and did almost every part of the process myself. The making part is almost as important for me as the final product. As humans we have developed the skills to use our hands for tens of thousands of years and to use that skill gives me fulfillment.”
