From Dusty To Delightful: Simon Brown Revives Old Brushes With His Needle Felting Magic (15 Pics)
Most of us would throw away an old, frayed brush without hesitation. But UK-based artist Simon Brown sees them differently. With the delicate art of needle felting, he transforms these discarded tools into whimsical miniature worlds where tiny woodland animals come to life.
As Brown explains: “I am a needle felt artist from a small village on the Northumbrian coast in the UK surrounded by castles, cats and copious amounts of tea. I find old, beaten up, heavily used brushes that nobody would look twice at and bring them back to life with tiny animals stabbed to life with wool, creating whimsical pieces filled with life, curiosity, and danger.”
The bristles become grassy meadows, nests, or perches, while hares, owls, and mice felted from wool make their homes there. Each creation feels like a little story frozen in time, reminding us that even the most ordinary, worn-out objects can hold unexpected magic.
