Artist Marianne Eriksen Scott-Hansen Uses Tissue Paper To Create Beautiful Flower Bouquets (30 Pics)

Published 2 weeks ago

Marianne Eriksen-Scott Hansen is a Copenhagen-based artist who creates incredibly lifelike flower bouquets using tissue paper. And when we say tissue paper, we don’t mean the usual dollar store napkins – some of the paper the artist uses can be up to a thousand of a millimeter thin.

In an interview with Bored Panda, Marianne said that she understands the need for beauty in people’s lives, and it’s what she aims to deliver with her art. “Just as you need food in your stomach and clothes on your body, so do you think you need beauty,” said the artist. “I’ve decided that the bit of beauty I might have inside just goes out.”

Marianne has been creating these intricate bouquets for the last five years and has worked with well-known designers like Karl Lagerfeld and Viktor & Rolf. Her flowers have been exhibited at the Hempels Glas Museum, Voergaard Castle, as well as the Copenhagen Contemporary.

Even though Marianne’s flowers always seem to look perfect, the artist says she refuses to use custom-colored paper for her art. “I’d rather use what’s available. If I could design the paper myself, it wouldn’t inspire me,” says the artist. “Now I have to make every effort to get something flavorful out of all these pang colors. I really like that.”

Believe it or not, Marianne’s bouquets aren’t as frail as they may look. “If they fall down and land on their heads, they won’t break. The many layers of paper reinforce each other, which means that when I create my flowers, I actually transform a weak material into something strong,” says the artist. “I make a humble material that no one thinks anything of into a luxury object.”

One day, this guy just kind of figured - "I spend most of my time on the internet anyway, why not turn it into a profession?" - and he did! Now he not only gets to browse the latest cat videos and fresh memes every day but also shares them with people all over the world, making sure they stay up to date with everything that's trending on the web. Some things that always pique his interest are old technologies, literature and all sorts of odd vintage goodness. So if you find something that's too bizarre not to share, make sure to hit him up!
