End Of The Line: Train Graveyard In Bolivia From The Times Of Industrialization

Published 8 years ago

Melbourne-based Australian photographer and traveler Chris Staring was in Bolivia recently and there he managed to snap photos of something most urban explorers can only dream of. While in the middle of South America, he was lucky enough to stumble upon an abandoned train graveyard, which he turned into a photo series End of the Line.

Just a couple miles from the city of Uyuni, southern Bolivia, more than a 100 rail cars and locomotives were waiting for Staring in their final resting place. He was lucky enough to visit the place during the so-called “golden hour”, when the sun is setting, to take even more incredible shots.

Back in the 19th century these territories, now known as the world’s largest salt flats, were playing an active part in South America’s industrialization. The trains are a reminder of those times, when Uyuni was a home for the busy railcar factory. The times have passed, but the trains remain, some of which date back even to the 19th century.
