Artist Turns Single Strands Of Wire Into Elaborate Tree Sculptures

Published 10 years ago

These incredibly elaborate tree sculptures by UK-based sculptor and author Clive Maddison are each from a single wire strand.

Born “in the heart of Robin Hood Country in a village called Edwinstowe,” the artist was fascinated from childhood by practical arts and crafts like wood- and metal-working. Now the artist focuses on two of his passions – writing and sculpting with wire. What’s interesting is that Maddison doesn’t use glue, solder, or any other material other than a single long wire strand per sculpture. The wonderfully flexible and strong material gives his pieces a rich, silvery shine.

The beauty of this art is that no two sculptures are the same,” writes Maddison. “There may be similarity of style between pieces, material used, or type of tree being represented, but the way they are made means that every sculpture will be unique.
