Artist Transforms Old Portraits Into Vintage Superheroes
To quote Spider-Man’s aunt May: “There’s a hero in all of us,” and that’s what Alex Gross found out when he was browsing through an archive of vintage portraits from the 1870’s.
Alex managed not only to see the heroes in them, but also to make them visible to the rest of us. He used his signature illustration style and painted over the old photos, turning their subjects into vintage super heroes!
This awesome idea has become an ongoing project of his and by now he already has dozens of funny and creative retro illustrations in his portfolio. Here, we bring you our picks, for the full collection and the rest of his impressive works head over to his website.

Got wisdom to pour?
Not all of them are superheroes, title is false. Come on, don’t give it that title if the majority is superhero, and a minority is not… MISLEADING
