Artist Creates Beautiful Ceramic “Drippy Pots” With Vibrant Colors And Indulgent Textures

Published 2 years ago

Brian Giniewski, a Philadelphia-based ceramicist, is the artist behind the “Drippy Pots” project. In an interview with DeMilked, he tells us that he began making Drippy Pots as part of his studio art practice in 2013, and made it his full-time job in 2016.

Talking about his inspiration, the artist explains, “I was underwhelmed by the lack of color found in most studio pottery at the time. I love clean and vibrant design, fashion and food, and I wanted to bring that energy to my ceramic work. I’m very excited to see how much the field of studio pottery has grown and diversified since I first started making these pieces. People love objects that make them happy, and I think that is my biggest goal as an artist and designer.”

Brian further says, “Pottery is a very labor-intensive, slow, and fastidious process. Each piece takes me an entire month to create from start-to-finish. Despite all of this careful (and sometimes nerve-wracking) work, I want Drippy Pots to look fun, light and effortless.”
