Artist Creates Mesmerizing Ceramic Vessels Using Bold And Bright Colors (10 Pics)
Ariana Heinzman, an artist based in Washington, creates colorful vessels with bright and bold designs. The surface of her vessels portrays flowers and leaves with thick black outlines and the vibrant colors give them an interesting illustrative appearance.
In an interview with DeMilked, the artist revealed that her artistic vessels have been evoloving since 2013 but they started coming together in 2016. The artist said, “I was first interested in drawing and illustration but fell in love with clay in college. Because of the responsiveness of clay it can feel like drawing in 3 dimensions, I’ve become enthralled with the combination of “drawing” forms and then drawing on the surface of forms. As far as vessels go, I enjoy how they reference the body and also everyday objects.”
Talking about her creative process, Ariana said that it is intuitive for the most part. “I might have a goal in mind, perhaps a particular shape of a branch that references a handle and an arm or something like that I want to capture but often I will make decisions about the form of a piece by how it starts to come together. Working in this way, I get to develop my own “handwriting” in clay,” she further elaborated. Check out some of her wonderful works in the gallery below.
