Shape-Shifting Origami-Inspired Pots Grow With Your Plant

Published 9 years ago

Flowers grow; flower pots do not. Except for this special, origami inspired Growth pot. As the plant grows and expands, so does the pot. Growth unfolds to give space for the expanding roots and soil. It is like watching art and nature in action, albeit very slowly. No more pesky replanting and pot buying! Of course, you can grow a tiny bonsai tree, if you want to spite both the pot and its makers.

The Growth comes from Bike and Begum Ayaskan, the minds behind Studio Ayaskan. “In nature, everything evolves, adapts, grows, blooms, degrades, dies, gets absorbed, reused. Nothing stands still,” they said in an online interview. “The modern approach to building is the opposite. Here, things exist in stages: objects are produced, used, discarded.”
